Job Summary
The Interventionist plays a critical role in accelerating student learning by providing targeted academic intervention and supporting school wide instructional initiatives. This role works directly with students while also partnering with teachers and school leaders to strengthen literacy, mathematics, and extended learning supports based on student data. The Interventionist leads small-group and individualized instruction for students requiring additional academic support and contributes to the design and implementation of school wide intervention systems. This includes supporting literacy initiatives, mathematics instruction improvement, and extended learning programs. This role does not supervise teachers, but may model instructional practices, host classroom observations, and facilitate professional learning opportunities to strengthen instructional practices across the school. The Interventionist may also provide project leadership for grant-funded initiatives related to literacy development, math achievement, and extended learning programs.
Requirements / Qualifications
What you’ll Bring Minimum: • Valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential • Minimum 3 years of successful classroom teaching experience • Experience supporting students requiring academic intervention • Strong knowledge of literacy development and/or mathematics instruction • Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly • Strong collaboration and communication skills
Desired (but not required) in order of importance: • Experience implementing Science of Reading practices • Experience leading small-group intervention programs • Experience facilitating professional development • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred Cognitive & Behavioral Competencies • Must be able to analyze written, spoken, visual, and other sensory stimuli • Must have ability to understand and analyze written and spoken English • Must be able to cope effectively with stressful situations and time constraints • Must be able to make sound judgments based on available information • Must be able to engage in frequent student/parent/coworker contact 2 • Must be able to remain calm in emergency situations • Must be able to perform effectively under pressure and tight deadlines • Must be able to maintain accuracy in tasks requiring meticulous attention to detail • Must have flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work demands • Must be able to logically solve problems • Must be able to provide and follow detailed written and verbal instructions • Must be able to build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and students • Must demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills • Must have a passion for student success • Must demonstrate strong organizational skills
