Job Summary
Under the direction of the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, the Director of Secondary Principals will serve as a direct supervisor to provide leadership coaching, exemplary experience, professional support, and operational guidance to secondary school principals and assistant principals. The position is responsible for strengthening leadership effectiveness, supporting implementation of district priorities, promoting consistent administrative practices, and improving school performance through coaching, mentoring, leadership development, and continuous improvement efforts. The Director serves as a resource to site administrators in the areas of leadership development, compliance, personnel matters, human resource development, personnel evaluations, investigations, student services, educational services, business services, budget development, and school improvement planning. The position supports the development of current and future administrators while helping ensure effective leadership and implementation of district policies, procedures, and educational priorities.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education and Experience: -Certificated Administrative Services Credential. -Master's degree from an accredited college or university in educational leadership, educational administration, curriculum and instruction, public administration, or a related field. -Minimum of five (5) years of successful administrative experience as a secondary school principal or district-level administrator. -Experience coaching, mentoring, supervising, or supporting school administrators and leadership teams. -Experience in planning and delivering professional development, leading school improvement efforts, implementing district initiatives, and supporting organizational change. -Experience working with student services, school operations, personnel management, school climate initiatives, and compliance requirements. -Demonstrated experience developing collaborative relationships with administrators, staff, students, families, and community stakeholders. Licenses and other requirements: Valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License An acceptable driving record and qualification for insurability by the District’s insurance carrier Criminal Justice fingerprint clearance Evidence of TB clearance

The Salinas Union High School District has an enrollment of 16,000 students in grades 7-12. SUHSD includes four middle schools, grades 7-8, five high schools, grades 9-12, a continuation high school, an alternative school, an adult school, and ROP facilities. Our District provides a generous health benefits package for employees and their families.
New employees normally shall be employed at a rate no higher than that of Step C of the appropriate salary classification. If exceptional recruitment difficulties are encountered or an
individual with unusually high qualifications is being considered for employment, the Board reserves the right to approve an appointment above Step C.
An employee who has been promoted shall be placed on the salary schedule as follows:
1. If the range increase on a daily rate basis is less than five (5) percent above his/her range, the employee shall be placed on the same step on the new range
2. If the range increase on a daily rate basis is five (5) percent or more above his/her current range, the employee shall be placed at the step on the new range that is five (5) percent higher than his/her salary prior to promotion; or if the five (5) percent falls between steps, the next step higher which exceeds the five (5) percent.
