Founded in the 1880s as a one-room schoolhouse located in historic Columbia State Park, Columbia Union School District (CUSD) is a one-school elementary district serving about 500 students in grades kindergarten through eight. Located two miles north of Sonora in the gold country of the Sierra Nevada Foothills, Columbia Elementary School relocated in-1936 when a new school building was constructed on Parrotts Ferry Road. Over the years the campus has expanded to meet the needs of the growing district. In 2007, the district completed the construction of 19 state-of-the-art classrooms and an Education, Sports, and Performing Arts Complex. Columbia Elementary focuses on the success of the whole child. The parents, staff, and students focus on creating unique learning opportunities to ensure students leave our school ready for high school and beyond. Columbia Elementary enjoys the support of our parents and community members. The community surrounding the school is made up of a variety of businesses and private homes. Columbia Elementary’s campus is large and generally spread out. The students have modern facilities and access to technology in their classrooms.

Full time Transitional Kindergarten Teacher in a small rural K-8 school in the Columbia Union School District. CUSD accepts up to 15 years of service at initial hire.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education Code section 48000(g) requires credentialed teachers who are first assigned to a TK classroom after July 1, 2015, to have one of the following by August 1, 2023: • At least 24 units in early childhood education, or childhood development, or both • Professional experience in a classroom setting with preschool-age children comparable to the 24 units of education described in bullet 1 (comparability determined by the local employing agency) • Child Development Teacher Permit issued by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing • Credential Copy (If your English Learner Authorization is embedded in you must submit detailed copies of your credential that shows the information) • English Learner Authorization (If your English Learner Authorization is embedded in your credential please submit a detailed copy showing the authorization) • Letter of Introduction • Letter(s) of Recommendation (Please submit 2-3 letters) • Other (Verification of CBEST or Basic Skills Exam) • Resume
