Job Description and Duties This advertisement is for Teacher (High School/General Education) positions located at Sierra Conservation Center in Jamestown, Tuolumne County. The teacher is required to maintain direct student contact related to the necessary amount of time based on student learning needs and group activities. All efforts should be made to maximize instructional time so that teaching and learning takes place from the beginning to the end of the class.

Requirements / Qualifications

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If you are meeting Minimum Qualifications with education, you must include your unofficial transcripts/diploma for verification. Official transcripts may be required upon appointment. If it is determined an applicant does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position. Candidates who have been withheld may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board.

Minimum Qualifications Teacher All applicants must possess a valid California Teaching Credential issued by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Applicants who do not possess the required credential or one of equivalent authorization may take the examinations but must have on file with the Commission on Teacher Credentialing an application for an appropriate credential. At the time of application for the examination, applicants must present written verification that the appropriate listed credential or its' equivalent is being processed or will be authorized. High School-General Education Possession of: 1. A Single Subject Credential or a Multiple Subject Credential. or 2. A Standard Secondary Credential with a major or minor in an academic subject area. or 3. A General Secondary Credential.

Working Conditions About this location -- Sierra Conservation Center (SCC) is located in the foothills near Jamestown, California, in the heart of the Mother Lode Gold Country.It is adjacent to the Stanislaus National Forest, offering pine trees, mountain streams, and an abundance of recreational activities (fishing, swimming, camping, skiing, golfing, etc.).The prison is approximately 70 miles from Yosemite National Park. The primary mission of SCC is to provide housing, programs and services for minimum and medium custody incarcerated individuals, to aid in their rehabilitation. SCC is responsible for the training and placement of male incarcerated individuals in the Conservation Camp Program.
