Description of basic functions and responsibilities 

Under the direction of the Director of Assessment and Accountability the Coordinator of Charter School Oversight is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising the oversight and authorization of the charters authorized by the district.

Supervisor: Director of Assessment and Accountability

Typical Duties: 

Assure the East Side Union High School District charters are implementing all local, State and federal regulations and guidelines; interpret and apply educational policies and procedures regarding authorization, monitoring and renewal processes; monitor the development and implementation of the charter’s academic program as outlined in the charter petition

Provide technical expertise, information and assistance to the Director of Assessment and Accountability regarding charter activities; assist in the formulation and development of policies, procedures and programs; recommends proper organization structure for assigned programs and functions

Coordinates the evaluation of both renewal and new charter petitions, as well as annual monitoring 

Serves as the liaison between the district and district charter schools

Assist in meeting all district, state, and federal educational responsibilities by establishing ongoing communication and collaboration with district staff and district charter schools 

Establish, maintain, and monitor a Memorandum of Understanding with each district charter 

Compile annual monitoring data as a report to the East Side Union High School Board of Trustees

Perform other duties as assigned

 

Employment Standards

Knowledge of principles, methods, techniques and strategies of organization, management and supervision 

Knowledge of law, policies and regulations pertaining to charter schools

Ability to apply empirical principles and procedures in work performed; prepare financial and statistical documents and reports 

Analyze student achievement data, draw logical conclusions and prepare comprehensive reports; Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with all partners  

 

Minimum qualifications:

Valid California Administrative Services credential

Valid California Single Subject credential

Master’s Degree preferred

Five (5) years of secondary teaching experience

Administrative or supervisory experience preferred

 

Evaluation:

Annually by the Director of Assessment and Accountability in accordance with the District’s policies and procedures
