Under the direction of the Director of Student Engagement and Persistence, the Student Engagement Specialist supports Gateway College and Career Academy’s Gateway GPS (Guidance, Progress, Success) Student Success System through direct student outreach, engagement intervention, attendance recovery support, work completion coordination, and persistence-focused case management. This position plays a key operational role within GCCA’s tiered student engagement and intervention framework by proactively identifying and supporting students experiencing attendance concerns, disengagement, barriers to participation, work completion challenges, or risk of withdrawal. The Student Engagement Specialist works collaboratively with Student Success Counselors, administrators, teachers, attendance staff, and family support personnel to strengthen student connection, improve persistence toward graduation, and support successful re-engagement for students experiencing educational disruption. This position is highly relational, field-based, and student-centered, requiring strong communication skills, sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to build trust with students and families experiencing complex barriers.
