Job Summary
*This position is Part -Time, Non-exempt Hourly; Starting Range $17.00 - $18.41 Under general supervision, provide care, supervision, and support for elementary-aged students participating in the After School Kids Club program. Assist in maintaining a safe, positive, and engaging environment while supervising children after school until they are picked up by a parent or authorized guardian. Support students with homework, facilitate recreational activities, encourage positive social interactions, and assist in resolving conflicts using age-appropriate behavior management techniques. Help maintain a welcoming, organized, and developmentally appropriate environment in accordance with all applicable laws, policies, and procedures. Supervise children during after-school hours to ensure a safe, positive, and nurturing environment. Monitor indoor and outdoor activities, assist with transitions, and ensure students are released only to authorized individuals. Assist students with homework by providing encouragement, guidance, and clarification while promoting independent learning. Support reading, basic math, and study skills as needed. Plan, organize, and lead age-appropriate recreational activities, games, crafts, and group activities that encourage creativity, teamwork, and positive social interaction. Promote positive behavior by modeling respect, patience, and kindness. Assist with conflict resolution using positive behavior management techniques and reinforce program expectations. Monitor student behavior and complete accident or incident reports as needed Assist with program setup and cleanup, maintain supplies and activity areas, communicate with parents and staff as appropriate, attend staff meetings and training sessions, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High School diploma or GED and one of the following: completed two years of study at an institution of higher education (45 semester units); obtained an associate’s (or higher) degree; or met a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing and mathematics (or, as appropriate, reading readiness, writing readiness and mathematics readiness) Minimum one (1) year paid experience working with children in a group setting; may require experience with specific ages Knowledge of basic concepts of child growth and development; student behavior management strategies and techniques; Ability to demonstrate understanding, patient, and receptive attitude toward students of varied age groups; communicate effectively in oral and written form in English and a second language, as required by the assignment; Demonstrated passion for children and their care and development REQUIRED OF ALL EMPLOYEES Aspire to be a Christian role model in accordance with 1 Timothy, chapter 3 Maintain a consistent relationship with God, live a Biblical lifestyle that honors Christ Be personally committed to the ideals, values and mission of WOL Ability to appropriately handle confidential information; refraining from gossip Ability to resolve issues according to Matthew 18:15 Be/become a Member at either Water of Life or a church with a similar Statement of Faith, and regularly attend its weekend services Satisfactory “live scan” fingerprint and child abuse index clearance by the Department of Justice Current CPR and First Aid training Current TB test with negative results
