Job Summary

Monte Vista Independent Study School is seeking tutors to provide academic support to middle school and high school students. Monte Vista Independent Study School is an alternative educational option in Newport-Mesa Unified. Students complete coursework online, with instructional meetings weekly and have opportunities for on-site content support daily. Under direct supervision of the school principal, tutors at Monte Vista will provide content support in math, ELA, and other academic areas as needed. Tutors will also help students with study skills such as note taking, time management, and quiz/test preparation and review. In this position, you will have the opportunity to mentor, motivate and inspire students to earn success in their current coursework in the independent study environment. Hours of work vary and are flexible based on the candidate's schedule.

Requirements / Qualifications

• High School Diploma • Current enrollment in or degree from an accredited community college or university • Experience as a tutor or similar position preferred
