SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER - Until Filled COMPANY DESCRIPTION: Elliott Institute is a small, certified non-public school providing academic, language and behavior services for children in the autism spectrum and other communication disorders. We are located in La Crescenta. JOB DESCRIPTION: Teaches basic academic and living skills to developmentally disabled students. Coordinates strong, language based curriculum with academic and behavior needs. Prepares lessons and other instructional materials according to achievement levels of students and the goals established by the Individual Education Plan. Confers with parents, administrators, testing specialists, social workers, and others to develop individual educational program for students. Instructs students in academic subjects, utilizing various teaching techniques, such as discrete trial training, PECS. Teaches socially acceptable behavior employing techniques such as behavior modification and positive reinforcement. Instructs students in social interaction skills and daily living skills. Observes, evaluates, and prepares reports on progress for IEPs of students. Maintains daily observation notes, discrete trial data and graphs of learning progression. REQUIREMENTS: California Special Education Teaching Credential (Moderate to Severe) required. Provisional Internship Permit supervision is available.
