John Muir Charter Schools provides personalized, relationship-centered educational programs designed to help students earn a high school diploma and prepare for success in college, careers, and adult life. Bitney Prep is an established Grass Valley high school joining the JMCS school system. Bitney Prep offers a small-school environment in which students are known, supported, and encouraged to take an active role in their education. As Bitney Prep transitions into JMCS, the school will preserve its strong community identity while gaining access to JMCS systems, resources, student supports, and educational opportunities. Position Summary Under the supervision of the Bitney Prep Site Administrator and designated JMCS leadership, the Bitney Prep School Counselor provides comprehensive academic, social-emotional, college, career, and transition counseling to students in grades 9–12. The counselor works closely with students, families, teachers, administrators, special education personnel, and community partners to ensure that students are progressing toward graduation, receiving appropriate support, and developing meaningful postsecondary plans. The counselor will also play an important role in Bitney Prep’s integration into JMCS by helping students, families, and staff navigate new systems and collaboratively develop student-support practices that reflect the strengths, culture, and needs of the Bitney Prep community.
