Under general supervision, operates a school bus over designated routes in transporting students safely and efficiently; clean and perform routine inspection of bus; and other related duties as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications
What makes a good school bus driver? A professional and great school bus driver will always follow the route and stay on time, wear their seat belt, and make sure all rules of the road are followed. The bus will stop at railroad crossings, all traffic lights are respected, and the bus driver doesn't speed, no matter what. Everyone is happy and safe!
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid California Special Driver Certificate for School Buses with valid first aid certificate, if required. Possession of a valid California Class A or B driver's license with passenger endorsement. Possession of a valid D.O.T. (Department of Transportation) approved medical certificate. A safe driving record for the last 3 years is required (Proof of safe driving record - California DMV Report will be required if selected to continue in the selection process. Any moving citations or chargeable accidents in the applicant's driving history within 37 calendar months prior to the application date will be evaluated and may be considered disqualifying. Personality and character traits suited to supervision and care of children of multiple ethnicities and cultural values, behavioral, and physical handicaps.
