JOB TITLE: GROUNDMAN I - OPERATIONS
CLASSIFIED POSITION Page 1 of 1
Reports To: Principal and/or Maintenance Supervisor
Job Goal: To perform grounds maintenance work and assist in the
beautification of landscaped areas.
PERFORMANCE RESPOSIBILITIES:
1. Uses proper techniques of lawn and grounds care and maintenance. Uses the
proper and safe methods of grounds care equipment and chemicals.
2. Irrigates turf, trees and shrubs and performs light pruning and shaping of trees and
shrubs.
3. Provides weed control; rakes stones and leaves from lawn; sweeps sidewalks; picks
up rubbish and paper and does general grounds cleaning; spades and prepares
ground surrounding plants and shrubs.
4. Prepares and maintains athletic fields, operating the necessary equipment, performs
minor equipment adjustments and repair.
5. Performs general labor services as directed.
6. Performs other duties as directed.
EDUCATION:
1. High School Diploma or GED.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must have the ability and knowledge necessary to perform duties as set forth in this
job description.
2. Must be able to read, write and follow written and verbal instructions.
3. Must be dependable, neat and courteous.
4. Must take and pass fingerprints and skin test or x-ray examinations.
5. Must pass doctor's health examination if required.
6. Must have a valid California Driver's License.
