The Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting the financial health and daily operations of the Finance Department. This position brings technical accounting skills, thoughtful analysis, and steady attention to detail to ensure our financial information is accurate, timely, and easy to understand. The Staff Accountant prepares complete, audit-ready reconciliations, records journal entries, and maintains reliable general ledger activity across multiple subsidiaries. In partnership with school and departmental teams, the Staff Accountant contributes to budget development, position control, and ongoing financial monitoring for assigned schools or LEAs. The role helps translate financial activity into clear, useful information that supports responsible decision-making and long-term planning. The Staff Accountant upholds GAAP, SACS, and CSAM requirements, supports internal and external audits, and maintains transparent financial documentation that reflects the organization’s commitment to integrity and public stewardship. Through this work, the Staff Accountant helps advance the mission and vision of The Classical Academies by ensuring our financial foundation is strong, accurate, and aligned with the needs of the students and communities we serve. This position is not eligible for remote work. The Classical Academies is an organization of award-winning, tuition-free, Certified California Public Charter Schools serving North San Diego County since 1999. With over 4,500 students in grades TK-12, the schools are making a tremendous impact as they reinvent public education.
