Job Summary
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Provides for the instruction of students with disabilities. Develops, implements and coordinates individualized education programs for students enrolled in Special Education and general education programs. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: - Assists in identifying and evaluating individuals with special needs. - Instructs students with special needs. - Adjusts educational programs to assist the student in becoming as independent as possible. - Adapts classroom environment and prepares specialized materials to meet the needs of individual students. - Evaluates daily performances of each student and adjusts future instruction accordingly. - Evaluates total program of each student through the use of tests/ observations. - Confers with parents at school, by phone, in writing and in making home visits. - As appropriate, develops individual transition plans, supports community-based instruction and supports students in integrated school environments. - Manages IEP meetings to determine appropriate instructional program for individuals with special needs.
