The Merced County Office of Education assists Merced County’s 20 school districts through support and oversight of curriculum and instruction, alternative education, business services, early education, technology, migrant education, special education, and teacher credentialing. MCOE is led by the elected Merced County Superintendent of Schools and governed by the Merced County Board of Education. While serving as a focal point to facilitate local school/government/community partnerships, MCOE is responsible for the fiscal oversight of each school district in Merced County, hears appeals for student expulsion hearings and interdistrict transfers and operates Green Meadows Outdoor School.

Job Summary
Under general direction from assigned supervisor, the Substitute Staff Secretary performs a variety of secretarial/clerical support and receptionist duties, following established policies, procedures, routines, and methods. Assignments can be in instructional or administrative/business areas. Work is focused in the areas of skilled keyboarding and data entry, creation of spreadsheets and presentation graphics, receptionist duties, records maintenance, filing and retrieval of information and reports. This position requires the ability to provide support with competencies such as the ability to carry out projects that involve research/gathering data and information from other departments and sites for reports and special studies. Requirements / Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: This position requires a High School diploma or recognized equivalent supplemented by one year of advanced secretarial training/coursework, and two years of experience in general clerical, secretarial, production keyboarding, or equivalent environment. REQUIRED ATTACHMENTS: The following documents are REQUIRED and must be uploaded to your EdJoin application prior to submission: 1. Resume 2. Two (2) current letters of recommendation (dated and signed within the past 18 months) 3. Unofficial college transcripts 4. Typing Certificate 50 wpm or above (online certificates are not accepted) 5. Excel and Word Normal User Prove-It Certifications from Worknet (For candidates who do not already possess these certificates, instructions for obtaining them are included below.) **Applicants who do not currently possess the required documents to meet #4 and/or #5 listed above [50 WPM Typing Certificate and/or the Word/Excel certifications], you may complete testing at Worknet of Merced (1205 W. 18th Street, Merced, CA) or any local Worknet location. Typing and Microsoft Word/Excel tests must be completed on a walk-in basis, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Testing typically takes no more than one hour to complete. Please complete all required testing and upload your certificates prior to submitting your application. Only candidates who meet minimum requirements and submit all required documentation before the deadline date will be considered. Upon hire must present: -TB clearance, -Original high school diploma & official college transcripts. -Valid CA driver’s license, proof of current auto insurance, and DMV Driving record.
