ENGLISH LEARNER SUPPORT SPECIALIST at Covina-Valley Unified School District
Requirements / Qualifications
The Vacancy: There is one part-time (4.5 hours a day) 10 month permanent position at a school site. This recruitment will also be used to develop an eligibility list to fill future vacancies and substitute/temporary positions in this classification for up to six months. The Position: Under supervision of a District administrator or designee, the English Learner (EL) Support Specialist supports students in the District English Learner Program; assists multiple sites, families, and the community; facilitates home and community understanding of school and District programs and objectives; and secures parent involvement in school and district activities.
Required Qualifications: Must have a High School Diploma or GED; completion of at least two years of study (48 semester units or 60 quarter units) at an institution of higher education, or attainment of an Associate of Arts degree or higher; possession of a valid First Aid/CPR training certificate which must be current at all times, and bilingual, biliterate in a designated language. Spanish is preferred. Selection Procedure: The selection process will consist of a written exam and a qualifications appraisal interview (each weighted 50%).
