Job Summary
A High School Applied Legal Studies / Mock Trial teacher is responsible for providing instruction to high school students in the field of criminal law, legal studies, courtroom procedures, constitutional rights, and the judicial system. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping students understand the role of law in society while developing students’ written advocacy, oral advocacy, public speaking, critical thinking, legal reasoning, and persuasive communication skills. The teacher provides instruction through classroom discussions, legal case studies, structured debates, courtroom simulations, mock trials, guest speakers, and related real-world learning experiences. The teacher may also support students in preparing for and participating in mock trial activities and competitions, including the Ventura County Mock Trial Competition. The Applied Legal Studies / Mock Trial teacher assists in school programs as agreed upon by the teacher and administrator, or as assigned under District policy. Requirements / Qualifications
1. BA/BS Degree 2. Career Technical Education (CTE) Credential: Public Services 3. English Learner’s Authorization 4. Current CPR and First Aid certification.
