CLASS TITLE: AUDITORIUM/STADIUM TECHNICIAN BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Manager – Manager, Theater/Performing Arts, provide technical theater expertise and assistance for campus and community use of the theater; perform a variety of technical work in the running, repairing, maintaining and rigging of theatrical equipment and related work; perform a variety of custodial duties. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Design theatrical lighting and sound systems including audio systems, specialized audio equipment and digital lighting systems; produce stage support items (e.g. props, special effects, fog, haze, smoke, lighting, etc.); assist with stage craft production; set-up theater equipment and for stage and art productions. Maintain appropriate inventory levels; process requisitions according to established procedures; receive, store and inventory materials. Perform preventive maintenance on stage and media equipment and furniture; replace defective parts and systems and perform minor repairs as appropriate. Run the lighting and sound boards; inspect and maintain stadium microphones, cables and speakers. Serve as a resource to the Performing Arts curriculum. Schedule theater facility for events and community use; serve as primary technical support for District and outside user groups during scheduled events; communicate with staff members, administration, and community to maximize use of the theater facility. Select, train and supervise student assistants in the effective and safe use of technical theater lighting, rigging and sound equipment; train and provide work direction to other assigned theater staff. Operate various hand and power tools to set up for events; maintain current inventory of supplies and equipment; perform minor repairs to equipment; maintain equipment maintenance log detailing maintenance and repair activities.
