The Medical Front Office Instructor is responsible for teaching, mentoring, and preparing high school and adult students for entry-level employment in medical administrative and front office roles. This position focuses on delivering practical, industry-aligned instruction in medical office operations, patient access, scheduling, insurance processes, professionalism, and healthcare compliance. The ideal candidate brings real-world medical office experience, a passion for education, and the ability to adapt instruction for diverse learners with varying academic and professional backgrounds. Key Responsibilities Teach medical front office competencies: patient intake, scheduling, EHR basics, insurance verification, HIPAA, and medical terminology Deliver standards-based instruction using career-ready practices, simulations, and real-world scenarios Adapt instruction for diverse learners and mixed-age classrooms Assess student progress and support workforce entry, certifications, or externships Maintain attendance, grades, and compliance documentation Qualifications Required 5+ years of medical front office or healthcare administrative experience Strong communication and computer/EHR skills Preferred Teaching or training experience (CTE or adult education) Knowledge of California CTE standards Credential or willingness to obtain appropriate CTE in the appropriate subject matter Ability to develop and organize original course curriculum, lesson plans, and instructional materials independently, as program curriculum resources are actively being developed
Requirements / Qualifications
Note: Must have a Designated Subjects Vocational Education Teaching, Designated Subjects Career Technical Education (DS CTE) Teaching credential, or be eligible to obtain a Designated Subjects Career Technical Education Teaching Credential in the appropriate subject matter area (this requires a minimum of three (3) years of full-time recent work experience and or a combination of recent work experience and education) and possess a current license/certificate, as applicable, in the State of California. Application processing assistance to obtain a Designated Subjects Career Technical Education Teaching Credential provided for a qualified eligible applicant not holding an appropriate credential. Candidate to have verifiable Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Health Sciences, Medical Technology, Biotechnology) preferred. Professional experience in Medical Front Office or a related healthcare field. Knowledge of workplace safety, health and safety laws, and ethical practices.
