Substitute teaching requires active supervision of students. Please read job description and requirements/qualifications carefully. AVUSD has a no-cell-phone policy for students at all school sites. Personal cell phone use for staff is strictly limited to break times, preparation periods, or lunch. SUBSTITUTE EMPLOYMENT IS AT-WILL, MAY BE TEMPORARY, INTERMITTENT OR SPORADIC AND DOES NOT PROVIDE AN AVENUE TO PERMANENT EMPLOYMENT.

- Copy of Transcript (Bachelors Degree or higher; transcripts must show degree and graduation/conferral date)

Required prior to start date, following successful completion of the screening process:
1. All candidates will be required to complete mandated online trainings (i.e. Sexual Harassment, Boundary Invasion, Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Prevention, Mandatory Reporting, and New Hire Orientation) BEFORE beginning work.
2. Current TB clearance
3. All applicants must be printed in our office and have fingerprint clearance with DOJ and FBI prior to hire.
4. Medical Clearance per Education Code 44839
5. Current, original documents required for employment (Drivers License & Social Security card - the names must match on both documents)

IF YOU DO NOT ALREADY HOLD A VALID CALIFORNIA TEACHING CREDENTIAL OR EMERGENCY 30-DAY SUBSTITUTE TEACHING PERMIT, PLEASE DO NOT APPLY ON YOUR OWN. THE STATE PROCESS CAN TAKE SEVERAL MONTHS. WE WILL ASSIST ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES IN APPLYING ONCE BACKGROUND CLEARANCE IS COMPLETE.
