Job Summary
Under the direction of the classroom teacher, assist in supervising classroom, playground, and community activities of students with disabilities; present instructional material under the teacher’s direction to individual students or small groups; relieve the teacher of routine clerical duties; provide specialized physical health care services as required; plan, assess and administer student health care safely within the LVN Practice Act under the direction of a credentialed school nurse and physicians’ orders. Requirements / Qualifications
Experience: Successful interaction with children in a classroom or other structured setting, preferably with students with disabilities; and graduation from an accredited Vocational Nurses Training program and/or Nursing program. One year related experience preferred. Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required; AA degree is preferable, and completion of Licensed Vocational Nurses Training Program Paraprofessionals are required by the NCLB to be able to demonstrate knowledge of, and the ability to, assist with instruction, reading/language arts, and mathematics, either by possessing an Associate’s Degree or Higher, or 48 Semester College Units, or passing a minimum proficiency exam.
