Position Overview The School Counselor supports the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral development of students in grades TK–8. This role focuses on helping students build skills for success in school and beyond by providing counseling services, collaborating with staff and families, and contributing to a positive, inclusive school climate. Behavior Support -Support students in developing positive behavior strategies and self-regulation skills Collaborate with teachers and staff to address behavioral concerns and implement interventions -Participate in Student Support Team (SST) meetings and contribute to the development of student action plans -Monitor student behavior progress and adjust supports as needed -Assist in crisis response and de-escalation when behavioral incidents occur Social-Emotional Support -Provide individual and small group counseling to address social-emotional needs -Deliver classroom lessons on emotional regulation, conflict resolution, and peer relationships -Help students build coping strategies, resilience, and self-awareness -Support students in developing communication and problem-solving skills -Create a safe and supportive environment where students feel heard and valued Academic & School-Wide Support -Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to support student success -Partner with families to provide resources, communication, and guidance -Help foster a positive, inclusive, and safe school climate -Coordinate with outside agencies and community resources when needed -Maintain accurate and confidential student records
