Job Summary

The History Teacher provides high-quality social studies instruction that supports students in developing historical thinking skills, civic awareness, and an understanding of diverse cultures, perspectives, and historical events. The teacher creates engaging learning experiences that foster inquiry, critical thinking, research, discussion, and analysis while creating a classroom culture where all students feel valued and supported. This role integrates culturally responsive teaching practices and promotes both academic achievement and social-emotional growth. In collaboration with the leadership team and Curriculum Coordinator, the teacher aligns instruction with California History-Social Science Standards and district priorities and contributes to student success across grade levels.

Requirements / Qualifications

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (see full detail in Job Description) -Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based history and social science instruction for TK–8 students. -Collaborate with the Curriculum Coordinator to develop lessons that promote historical inquiry, civic engagement, geography, economics, and cultural understanding through interactive and project-based learning experiences. -Foster a classroom environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, respectful dialogue, and the exploration of multiple perspectives. -Teach students to analyze primary and secondary sources, evaluate evidence, and develop well-supported conclusions.

QUALIFICATIONS -Multiple Subject Teaching Credential – General Subjects OR Single Subject Teaching Credential – Social Science, History, or a related field (required). -One (1) year of experience teaching elementary and/or middle school history or social studies (preferred). -Certification in CPR that meets the standards established by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. -Clear Live Scan Background Check and negative TB test. -Strong classroom management and organizational skills. -Strong communication and collaboration skills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -Experience developing interdisciplinary or project-based history and social studies programs. -Knowledge of California History-Social Science Framework and Standards. -Experience integrating civic engagement, ethnic studies, geography, economics, and cultural studies into instruction. -Experience working in a TK–8 or charter school setting.
