Job Summary

Substitute teachers play a vital role in maintaining instructional continuity across the district's schools. They help ensure a structured and effective learning environment in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Under the direction of school administration, certificated substitutes are responsible for implementing lesson plans, managing classroom behavior, and creating a safe and productive educational setting for all students. Assignments may vary across different grade levels and subjects, requiring flexibility, professionalism, and the ability to adapt to diverse school environments. Substitute teachers are expected to follow all district protocols, including attendance reporting systems and site-specific procedures. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to student success while gaining valuable experience within a large and diverse school district.

  1. Credential/Permit
    1. Upload your valid teaching credential or 30-Day Substitute Permit (if applicable). For instructions on how to obtain your document click here.
    2. If you do not hold a credential/permit you must provide official transcripts upon hire that confirms the conferral of a baccalaureate degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university.
    3. Priority consideration will be given to applicants who hold a credential/permit.
  2. Transcripts
    1. Upload transcripts showing completion of a baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited college or university. WE DO NOT ACCEPT materials by email, fax, or personal delivery.
    2. Out of country transcripts may be uploaded along with an evaluation from an agency approved by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing. For a list of approved evaluating agencies please, click here.
  3. Complete Application
    1. Employment History must Include: employer, dates, supervisor, phone, and your job title (If you do not have prior paid job experience, you may include student teaching, field experience, and volunteer work.) Incomplete applications and failure to attach transcripts will not be considered.
    2. Applicants selected, offered employment will receive an appointment to come in and start the employment process. Please do not email, mail or hand deliver any documents to the Human Resources Office in advance.
    3. Requires at least one professional reference, from a previous supervisor.
    4. If a section of the employment application does not apply, please note N/A, if a “Yes” or “No” answer is requested, you must fill in either a “Yes” or “No”.
