Under the direction of the Director of the Conservatory and the Dean of Arts, Conservatory Teachers plan, develop, organize, and implement a comprehensive educational program for students in the skills of their specified art discipline, create a supportive and flexible learning environment to nurture each student’s personal growth, and collaborate with colleagues to reflect on and refine instructional practice. Open teaching positions: FOOD & BEVERAGE = 45 contact hrs. (on avg.) High School (10th & 11th grade) Tuesday, block 8 & 9 - Spring The Food & Beverage course provides comprehensive training in restaurant operations, hospitality management, and culinary service, focusing on menu planning, safety, cost control, and guest service excellence. Students gain practical skills in beverage management and industry-relevant technology for roles in hotels, restaurants, and catering. NUTRITION & SPECIAL DIETS = 45 contact hrs. (on avg.) High School (10th & 11th grade) Tuesday, block 8 & 9 - Spring Students will learn about nutrition and diet in a variety of settings, enabling them to evaluate the relationships among food, technology, nutritional status, and quality of life. The major emphasis is on exploring food-related issues through a range of practical experiences. Students will be able to make informed and appropriate choices with regard to food and nutrition within sports nutrition, weight management, and nutrition to support immunity, celiac disease, vegetarian and vegan diets, food intolerances and allergies, Paleo diet, fundamental Keto diet, convalescent and geriatric nutrition, diabetic diets, and meal planning. They will learn the necessary skills to critique and effectively communicate nutrition information. This course will provide an introduction to continuing study options in the health professions of dietetics & nutrition, as well as in food service, research, public health, & pathways to become a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN).
