Job Summary
The Literacy Coach provides expertise and guidance to improve literacy instruction and student achievement through evidence-based practices aligned with the Science of Reading. This role collaborates with teachers, administrators, and instructional teams to develop data-based practices. The Coach will provide coaching and professional development/ learning to strengthen Tier I instruction, support intervention systems, ensure alignment with state standards and district literacy goals, and also help to identify students who require Tier 2 and Tier 3 support. The coach will support multiple sites. This is a 3-year grant-funded position. This position will serve multiple sites throughout the district. Bilingual Preferred
Requirements / Qualifications
Cover Letter Resume Valid Clear Multiple Subject Credential Minimum of 5 years of Elementary Teaching Experience 2-5 years of instructional coaching geared towards classroom instruction 3 letters of recommendation- one from current supervisor CLAD or BCLAD certification Bilingual Preferred
Requires a California Clear Multiple Subject credential. Strong content knowledge of literacy development and the ability to apply it to teaching and learning. Requires experience coaching or mentoring teachers, facilitating groups, collaborative planning, and conducting professional development. 2-5 years of Coaching Experience geared towards classroom instruction Reading Specialist or Literacy Leader credential or added authorization OR Certification (or in progress) in the Science of Reading with national recommendation groups such as (LETRS, AIMS etc). Experience and understanding of assessment tools and systems for tier 2 and tier 3 reading difficulties. Demonstrated knowledge of the Science of Reading and evidence-based literacy practices Strong collaboration, communication, data analysis, and coaching skills
