Under the direction of the Director of the Conservatory and the Dean of Arts, Conservatory Teachers plan, develop, organize, and implement a comprehensive educational program for students in the skills of their specified art discipline, create a supportive and flexible learning environment to nurture each student’s personal growth, and collaborate with colleagues to reflect on and refine instructional practice. Open teaching positions: INTRODUCTION TO HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT = 45 contact hrs. (on avg.) High School (10th & 11th grade) Wednesday, block 8 & 9 - Fall This course will provide an introduction into management theory and practice as it pertains to the hotel hospitality industry, with a focus on its importance and application here in Orange County. The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership developed by Kouzes & Posner will form the core of the educational model; a curated reading and activity list drawing from other highly practical and respected management models (John Maxwell, Robert Greene, and Sun Tzu) will give students a well-rounded field of view so they may better define, adopt, and experiment with those management principles. Workbook exercises, group interactions, and a final project will round out the learning objectives and ground the reading and managing theories in practical applications of what has been acquired and mastered.
