Job Summary
The High School Marine Science Teacher provides engaging, Christ-centered instruction in the field of Marine Science to high school students. This position integrates a distinctly biblical worldview into scientific inquiry while promoting critical thinking, academic rigor, and environmental stewardship. The teacher cultivates a disciplined, respectful, and grace-filled classroom environment and supports students in developing both scientific understanding and spiritual growth. Faculty members are expected to demonstrate strong content knowledge, effective instructional practices, and active participation in the life of the Village Christian School community.
Requirements / Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree is required. A Master’s Degree in a Science field and/or a teaching credential is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate strong knowledge of Marine Science concepts, laboratory instruction, and curriculum development. Applicants must possess effective classroom management skills, strong communication and organizational abilities, and a commitment to modeling Christian character. Experience teaching high school science is preferred.

Upon hire, employees must provide documentation verifying authorization to work in the United States (I-9), complete required background checks and Live Scan fingerprinting, and provide proof of degree. Additional documentation such as TB clearance and a signed faith statement may be required in accordance with school policy and state regulations.

The High School Marine Science Teacher prepares and delivers instructional lessons aligned with curriculum standards; develops course outlines and daily lesson plans; facilitates laboratory and hands-on learning experiences; evaluates student performance and provides timely feedback; maintains accurate grade and attendance records; manages classroom behavior in accordance with school policies; communicates effectively with students, parents, and colleagues; participates in faculty meetings and assigned school events; serves as a “1:5 adult” mentor to students; attends overnight trips as assigned; and fulfills additional supervisory and professional duties as required. The position requires scholarly competence in Marine Science, instructional excellence, organizational skills, effective communication, professional collaboration, and alignment with the mission and Statement of Faith of Village Christian School.
This is a part-time, exempt teaching position.
