Job Summary
Job Summary
ACOE is seeking an experienced, driven, and innovative educator who believes in the potential of all students—especially those who have not found success in traditional school settings. This role is centered on supporting youth through meaningful relationships, engaging instruction, and a commitment to helping each student re-engage with learning. As an Education Specialist in our alternative education programs, you will design and deliver individualized instruction that meets students where they are academically, socially, and emotionally. The ideal candidate is a reflective practitioner who is committed to equity, open to new approaches, and comfortable working in a collaborative, student-centered environment. Strong skills in adapting instruction, using data to guide decisions, and partnering with colleagues, families, and community resources are essential. ACOE’s Parenting Teen School provides academic instruction for middle and high school aged students in order to meet graduation requirements. Our teachers teach every subject and support students at every level of academic ability, including newcomers, students with IEPs, and students with interrupted educational experiences. Our teacher leaders work side by side with support staff to provide just-right instruction to fill individual learning gaps as well as academic enrichment activities like field trips, hands-on projects and internships. In addition to academics, students also have access to a nurse, a social worker, and other partners to develop the skills needed to provide a safe, healthy and caring environment for themselves and their children.
