The Paraeducator/Health Aide provides specialized medical, health, and personal care support to students with medical, physical, developmental, and/or behavioral needs. Working under the direction of the school nurse and in collaboration with the special education team, the Paraeducator/Health Aide helps ensure students are safe, healthy, and able to fully access their educational program throughout the school day.

The Paraeducator/Health Aide provides specialized medical, health, and personal care support to students with medical, physical, developmental, and/or behavioral needs. Working under the direction of the school nurse and in collaboration with the special education team, the Paraeducator/Health Aide helps ensure students are safe, healthy, and able to fully access their educational program throughout the school day. Provide specialized health services as delegated Perform health-related procedures, including but not limited to blood glucose monitoring, diabetic care, and other medically necessary interventions. Administer prescribed medications, including routine, scheduled, and emergency medications, in accordance with school policies and state regulations. Monitor students for signs of illness, medical distress, or changes in physical condition and report concerns promptly. Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and implement established health care plans. Assist with blood sugar and ketone testing. Maintain student dignity, confidentiality, and independence while providing care. Assist students in maintaining regulation and participation during periods of sensory, emotional, or medical dysregulation. Support implementation of behavior support plans and classroom accommodations. Escort students safely between classrooms, service providers, field trips, and other school activities. Reinforce classroom routines and support student engagement in learning activities as directed by educational staff. Maintain accurate records of health services, medication administration, medical incidents, and personal care activities. Collect and document data related to IEP goals, health plans, and student progress. Communicate effectively with teachers, therapists, administrators, nurses, and families regarding student health and well-being. Participate in team meetings as requested.Position Summary

High school diploma or equivalent. Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire). Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively with students with diverse learning and medical needs. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Required
