Job Summary
Job Summary
Design and deliver courses of interest to adults in Berkeley and neighboring communities. Topics/skills of courses may vary widely. Course length may range widely, typically no longer than 2 hours per week for no more than 9 weeks, and classes tend to meet evenings or Saturdays. Student enrollment fees must be adequate to cover costs of delivering the class for it to run. Responsibilities: Contribute to marketing of courses. Plan instruction responsive to the interests of learners. Modify learning activities in response to learner knowledge/abilities. Structure learning activities so that learners are aware of their increase in knowledge/ability. Applicants should submit with their EdJoin application a letter of introduction that describes the courses they wish to teach, and they should review the “Community Education Course Proposals” section of the BAS website at https://bas.berkeleyschools.net/for-teachers/ and submit a Course Proposal Form through that webpage. A teaching credential is not required for teaching classes supported exclusively by student fees. Applications are received at any time and typically reviewed twice a year.
