The Helix School is a non-public school located in San Rafael, CA, serving autistic children who need mild to moderate levels of support. Helix’s mission is to prepare our students for a fulfilling future through dynamic relationship-based interdisciplinary education. Our therapeutic strategies are centered on evidence based developmental and relationship centered curriculums with an emphasis on Pivotal Response Treatment, SCERTS and DIR/Floortime. Helix’s vision is to provide a highly effective therapeutic education for autistic children by staying current with best practices in education and clinical research. We value a collaborative relationship with parents, caregivers and other professionals to provide a caring and consistent environment across school and home. Our priorities are to respect, appreciate, and encourage each child’s strengths, while providing support and structure to improve emotional regulation, sensory motor, social communication, life skills and academic capacities. The Helix School is currently looking for Speech & Language Pathologist Clinical Fellow who has experience working with children on the spectrum. Areas of focus include articulation, social communication and expressive and receptive language. This position reports to the Clinical Coordinator/SLP supervisor.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide direct therapy (individual & group) aligned with IEP goals
  • Support communication in natural settings (snack, lunch, community outings)
  • Participate in IEP meetings and write progress notes with support from your mentor SLP
  • Partner with teachers and staff on communication strategies and AAC integration

Clinical Fellow Qualifications and Desired Characteristics

  • Eligibility for clinical fellowship year.
  • Strongly prefer CF with experience working with autistic students.
  • Experience with AAC.
  • Familiarity with developmental and relationship-based interventions.
  • Flexible thinking and a growth mindset.
  • Effective written and oral communication abilities.

Clinical Fellow On-site Supervision and Training Provided

  • Daily collaboration with two SLPs
  • Daily collaboration with the multidisciplinary team (e.g., occupational therapists, counselors, behavior specialists, teachers).
  • The IEP process and use of SEIS.

Position Details

  • Location: San Rafael, CA (on-site)
  • Schedule: Full-time, 40 hrs/week (generally 8:00–4:00)
