AMPS’ mission is to provide a rigorous college preparatory education and character development program that will prepare students from underserved communities to succeed in college and beyond. Position The Board will support the work of AMPS and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance. While day-to-day operations are led by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Board-CEO relationship is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected.

This is a great opportunity for an individual who is passionate about the work in serving underserved populations and AMPS mission. Selected Board Members will have experience in leadership in the preferred sectors noted below. Their accomplishments and experience gives them the unique perspective to assist the CEO and the organization through qualified advice at pivotal moments. Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications: Extensive professional experience with significant executive leadership accomplishments in business, education, government/law, philanthropy, and/or the nonprofit sector A commitment to and understanding of the organization's students and community Savvy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the lives of students and families

Board terms/participation
AMPS’ Board Members will serve a four-year term to be eligible for re-appointment for one additional term. Board meetings will be held monthly and committee meetings will be determined by each committee, and held in coordination with full board meetings.
