The Wheatland School District was established in 1871, when the former Bear River School District was divided into Virginia and Wheatland School Districts. The town of Wheatland is valued by its residents for its small-town atmosphere and rural setting. Located in Northern California's Central Valley along State Route 65 in Yuba County, Wheatland is approximately one mile north of the Bear River and the tri-county boundary of Sutter, Placer, and Yuba Counties with 40 miles north of Sacramento. Beale Air Force Base is located eight miles to the northeast, and many students from the base's military families attend Wheatland School District schools. JOB TITLE: PARA EDUCATOR SUPERVISOR: SCHOOL PRINCIPAL LOCATION: BEAR RIVER MIDDLE SCHOOL HOURS: 4.5/Day, 181 Days SCHEDULE: 7:30 am to 12:00 pm EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS: KNOWLEDGE OF:. • Proper English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, vocabulary, and mathematical skills. • The general needs and behaviors of students. • Pertinent academic areas and learning situations. • Appropriate dress in a school environment. DESCRIPTION OF BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Crossing guard – assist students and the general public with crossing the street safely. • To assist a certificated teacher(s) in the instruction, supervision, and training of individual or groups of students by performing a variety of instructional support activities and to perform a variety of related duties in the maintenance of an effective learning environment. Employees in this classification receive close supervision within a well-defined framework of policies and procedures. This job class provides a variety of responsible instructional and clerical support activities to enhance the educational environment within assigned classroom and requires a high degree of positive contact with both students and certificated staff. Requirements / Qualifications
Graduation from High School and able to provide proof of transcript or a diploma, new employees pass proficiency exam or have an A.A. degree or higher. Valid California Driver's License. There is a one-year probationary period before a PARA/EDUCATOR will be considered permanent. Experience in working with children is desirable.
