Job Summary
Special Education Instructional Assistants might work directly with special education students or with other students to facilitate the teacher’s attention to the special education student. In the case of a special education assignment, the instructional assistant may receive direction and support from a classroom teacher, educational specialist, or both as appropriate.
Requirements / Qualifications
Along with online application, please submit Introduction letter Current resume 3 letters of recommendation. 2 professional references Valid California driver's license or ability to use alternative means of transportation to meet requirements that require travel away from campus. Alternative means of transportation shall be reasonably comparable in time or travel costs to driving. Alternatives include ride-hailing services, taxis, carpooling, bicycling, or walking. Valid first aid and CPR certification are preferred. TB clearance and DOJ background check. Ed Code 45361.5 requires demonstration of competency. It may be satisfied by one of the following: Proof of AA or BA Degree (based on standards set by regionally accredited colleges and universities). 48 semester units with a C- or better (official transcripts must be provided). Successful completion of the basic proficiency test approved and administered by Human Resources of the SJCOE. Email proficiencyexam@sjcoe.net for test information. Documentation of other relevant training and education is desirable.
