Job Summary

Major Duties & Responsibilities: Teach knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, and individual, dual, or team sports to pupils utilizing a course of study adopted by the Board of Trustees and other appropriate learning activities. Work cooperatively with other physical education teachers in planning balanced physical education programs, adapting daily schedules to accommodate weather conditions, and providing time for instruction, exercise, sports activities, and if appropriate, for changing clothes. Analyze, demonstrate, and explain: basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of formal sports, fitness, games, rhythms, and fundamentals of body movement. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly productive learning environment. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: Appropriate California Credential Bachelor’s degree with a physical education major or minor, including all courses needed to meet credential requirements Teachers new to the district must be authorized by the State of California to teach English Learners.
