About the Employer

The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. Job Summary

Job Summary

The Program Specialist, Educational Services serves as a dynamic, cross-functional leader who organizes, coordinates, and supports programs and initiatives across multiple Orange County Department of Education divisions and units. As a shared-services resource, this position collaborates with and provides strategic support to multiple teams, including Inside the Outdoors, Events, and Student Services. The role helps plan and implement educational initiatives, coordinate professional learning opportunities, build and maintain partnerships, manage projects, and support critical work across the Educational Services and Student Services Divisions. By providing targeted expertise and flexible capacity where it is needed most, the Program Specialist enhances organizational agility, ensures continuity of essential services, and advances innovative, high-quality educational programs that support students, educators, and school communities.

Requirements / Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience: Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in education or a related field. Experience: Three (3) years of educational experience in educational programs or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Recent teaching experience highly preferred. Credential: A valid California teaching or service credential appropriate to the assignment.
