Job Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Fiscal Services, prepare hourly and monthly payrolls for assigned employee groups; explain policies and procedures related to payroll accounting; educate and enroll employees in health benefits; process enrollment forms; serve as liaison for employees for various insurance carriers and worker’s compensation agencies.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
Payroll and Financial Record-Keeping ProficiencyMinimum two years of financial record-keeping experience, including at least one year in payroll, with demonstrated ability to process, audit, balance, and reconcile payroll transactions such as tax withholding, deductions, and garnishments with a high degree of accuracy.
Benefits Administration and Regulatory Compliance
Knowledge of health and life insurance plans, worker's compensation, and COBRA regulations, with the ability to enroll employees in benefit programs and interpret and apply federal, state, County, and District payroll policies and procedures.
Technology and Communication Skills
Proficiency in computer applications, including spreadsheets and database management, combined with strong oral and written communication skills to coordinate payroll matters, prepare reports, and handle sensitive employee information with confidentiality and discretion.
REQUIREMENTS
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school supplemented by coursework in accounting or a related field and two years of responsible financial record-keeping experience, including one year in payroll, benefits or related work.
Examination Information: All applicants must pass a test before interview consideration. The test is a Payroll Technician multiple-choice skills test. Test Date: June 16, 2026 at 9:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. Come to one testing time. The test is at the district office: 4034 Irving Place, Culver City, CA 90232. ACCOMMODATIONS: In compliance with the American Disabilities Act, applicants with disabilities may request that reasonable accommodation be given related to the examination process itself. Applicants must notify the Office of Human Resources in writing of the type of accommodations being requested at the time of filing the application. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
All employment offers are conditional, based upon the successful completion of the following: Fingerprint/background clearance and a tuberculosis clearance.
