Job Summary
The Mandarin Immersion teacher provides instructions designed to provide opportunities for students to develop biliteracy and multicultural competence. The teacher develops and delivers lesson plans for the class and provides appropriate standard-based instructions using research-based pedagogy and school-adopted curricular materials. The teacher creates a positive classroom environment that promotes academic achievement and personal growth of all students. ***Additional Incentive: Candidates may be eligible for a stipend based on completed Early Childhood Education (ECE) coursework and/or qualifying early childhood education experience.***
Requirements / Qualifications
Candidates must submit the following documents: -Completed EDJOIN application -Letter of Introduction (500 words): Please describe your teaching experience, instructional approaches, and long-term goals as an educator. -Current resume -Three current letters of recommendation (dated within the past three years, including at least one from a direct supervisor) -Copies of credentials -Copies of degree(s), unofficial transcripts, and CBEST and/or CSET results
Required Qualifications : -Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university -Valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with BCLAD (Bilingual Cross-cultural Language and Academic Development) certification in Chinese (Mandarin), or working towards BCLAD certification. A CTC approved Emergency Authorization is also acceptable. -Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students, colleagues and families -Ability to collaborate with grade level team and English Literacy teachers -Experience with current educational technology Preferred Qualifications: - Previous teaching experience in Bilingual or Dual Language Settings - Successful elementary teaching experience within the last 3 years in the relevant grade level or subject area - Experience with project-based learning, social-emotional learning, and differentiated learning - In depth understanding of the Common Core State Standards - Possess humility, strong work ethics, and a solution-oriented mindset - Flexibility to adapt and change; ability to strive in a fast paced dynamic working environment - Dedicated to own professional growth, including learning current and innovative teaching practices and technology
