About the Employer
We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school. We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. Our school district employs approximately 1,100 certificated and nearly 900 classified employees. Antioch Unified School District is centrally located in the East Bay and provides ready access to scenic mountains, waterfronts, wine country, historical sites and the Pacific Ocean. Antioch is known as the “Gateway to the Delta” and is one of California’s oldest cities, with a diverse community of approximately 100,000. The Antioch Unified School District is a Merit System District. As such, final selection of our classified staff members will be made from candidates who have been placed on an eligibility list. Eligibility is determined via an evaluation and competitive screening/scoring of a candidate’s training and experience as demonstrated on the application and responses provided in the supplemental questions.

BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Director, Business Services or its designee, plan, organize and direct accounting operations and activities including the development, preparation, review, maintenance and adjustment of various District budgets, funds and accounts; coordinate and direct personnel, communications, attendance accounting and record-keeping functions to meet District needs and external compliance and operational requirements; supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel.

IDEAL CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate will possess progressively responsible accounting and fiscal management experience within a public education environment, with a strong understanding of school district budgeting, attendance accounting, compliance reporting, and fund management. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to navigate the unique financial and operational challenges of educational institutions while effectively collaborating with administrators, school sites, auditors, and state agencies to support student-centered decision making and fiscal stability. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and four years increasingly responsible accounting experience involving the review, analysis, maintenance and adjustment of a variety of budgets, funds and accounts. SELECTION & EXAMINATIONS: The selection process will consist of a competitive application packet screening for completeness, qualifications, and experience. Ann application evaluation (pass/fail) and oral panel interview examination (weighted 100% of your score) will be conducted. Oral panel interviews are expected to be held on June 16, 2026. A passing score must be achieved on the oral panel interview examination. Final selection will be among those who achieve the top three ranking scores.
