BVUSD is searching for a Middle School Science Instructor that provides engaging, standards-based science instruction that promotes scientific literacy, inquiry, critical thinking, and hands-on learning experiences for middle school students without a reliance on the use of technology and digital instructional tools. The instructor fosters student curiosity while supporting academic achievement through effective instructional strategies and positive classroom management. This position will include additional subject matter assignments based upon the candidate’s possession of appropriate supplemental authorizations or credentials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver effective science instruction aligned with California State Standards and district curriculum requirements.
- Develop and implement lessons that encourage scientific inquiry, experimentation, and problem-solving.
- Utilize a variety of instructional methods, including laboratory activities, demonstrations, collaborative learning, and technology integration.
- Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning needs and promote student success.
- Assess student understanding through formative and summative assessments and use data to inform instruction.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging classroom and laboratory environment.
- Promote appropriate safety procedures and practices during all laboratory and hands-on activities.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and administration regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
- Collaborate with colleagues and participate in curriculum planning, professional development, and school initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records related to attendance, grades, assessments, and student performance.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications
Qualifications Valid California Teaching Credential authorizing instruction at the middle school level. Appropriate Science authorization. Knowledge of middle school instructional practices and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to establish positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
Preferred Qualifications Experience with hands-on and inquiry-based science instruction. Supplemental authorizations or additional subject matter credentials. Familiarity with intervention strategies and differentiated instruction practices.
