Job Summary
BVUSD is searching for a Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) Instructor that will provide standards-based instruction designed to strengthen students’ foundational literacy skills, including writing, grammar, reading comprehension, vocabulary development, and academic communication without a reliance on the use of technology and digital instructional tools. The instructor will support a diverse student population through targeted remediation, differentiated instruction, and engaging classroom practices that promote academic growth and confidence. This position will include additional subject matter assignments based upon the candidate’s possession of appropriate supplemental authorizations or credentials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver effective instruction aligned with California State Standards and district curriculum requirements.
- Provide focused instruction in:
- Writing fundamentals
- Grammar and sentence structure
- Vocabulary development
- Reading comprehension
- Remediation and academic intervention strategies
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including English learners, students with disabilities, and students requiring academic intervention.
- Assess student progress regularly and use data to guide instruction and intervention.
- Maintain a positive, structured, and engaging classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and administration regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
- Collaborate with colleagues in curriculum development, instructional planning, and student support initiatives.
- Participate in professional development activities and school-wide programs.
- Maintain accurate records related to attendance, grades, assessments, and student performance.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications
Valid California Teaching Credential authorizing instruction at the middle school level. Appropriate English Language Arts authorization. Knowledge of middle school instructional practices and literacy intervention strategies. Strong classroom management and communication skills. Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting struggling readers and writers. Experience with intervention and remediation programs. Supplemental authorizations or additional subject matter credentials.
