QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE • Strong piano performance skills; • Excellent sight-reading ability; • Proven experience accompanying vocal ensembles. OVERVIEW: Palo Alto Unified School District (PAUSD) is seeking an hourly Piano Accompanist to support the high school choir program, providing musical support for 40 hours per month, from August through May. This position includes approximately 5 hours per week of accompanying regular class time rehearsals, plus all performances and occasional additional rehearsals. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Accompany regular class time rehearsals (approx. 5 hours per week); • Accompany all performances and occasional additional rehearsals; • Assist with sectional rehearsals as needed; • Collaborate effectively with choir directors to support student learning and musical growth. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: • Ability to work collaboratively with high school students and staff; • Flexibility and reliability to adapt to varying durations and scopes of program; • Ability to sight-read; • Knowledge of music education and student development in a choral setting. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • Legal Authorization to work in the U.S.; • Ability to pass a Department of Justice (DOJ) fingerprint clearance; • Within 60 days of hire, provision of TB (tuberculin) clearance, as mandated by the California Education Code.
