BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Special Education Local Planning Agency (SELPA) Executive Director, the Program Coordinator supports Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) within the SELPA to administer, monitor, coordinate, and evaluate special education programs and services. The position ensures that students with disabilities receive appropriate services in the least restrictive environment in compliance with federal and state laws and regulations. The Program Coordinator serves as a resource to LEAs, parents, and partner agencies and supports the implementation of SELPA priorities and program initiatives. Assists with development of the Local Plan and SELPA Procedures Manual and develops and promotes evidence-based practices throughout the SELPA.

Requirements / Qualifications

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION: •Copy of, or acquisition by time of appointment, a valid California Administrative Services Credential. •Copy of valid California Teaching Credential. •Copy of transcripts showing proof of Degree (Can be unofficial at the time of application) Credential copies should include the name of the credential, details of the credential, authorizations of the credential, issuance and expiration dates & document number. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in education or a closely related field and four years of experience in special education or a closely related field. Master’s degree in special education or a related field preferred. Five years of classroom teaching experience preferred, including experience working with individuals with exceptional needs. A combination of education, training, and experience that could provide the desired skills, knowledge and abilities may be considered.
