DEFINITION: Plans, organizes, and implements an instructional program in accordance with District guidelines where all students achieve success in their academic, social, and emotional growth. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Implements by instruction and action, the District's philosophy and mission: ”All Students Can Learn.” Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated. Plans and implements an instructional program that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of all students. Creates a positive classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students. Prepares lesson plans for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of the principal or designee. Prepares a written plan for classroom behavior, informs students and parents of the plan, and implements the classroom discipline for students in a fair, just, and consistent manner. Guides the learning process for all students to the achievement of District curriculum goals, and, in harmony with the curriculum goals, establishes clear learning objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and activities which are communicated to students. Employs a variety of instructional techniques, strategies, and media consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided for instruction and the needs and capabilities of the students involved. Monitors and assesses the progress of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required. Diagnoses, when appropriate, the learning disabilities of students and seeks the assistance of the Student Study Team and/or District specialists as required. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
