Job Summary
Teach Adult ESL Intermediate High 2 evenings a week (MW or TTh) 6-9:00 PM. Students at the Intermediate High level can communicate effectively in everyday situations. Students can read and understand short texts and write simple paragraphs, though they may still make grammatical errors and need support with more complex language. Duties and Responsibilities: Plan and deliver engaging, level-appropriate lessons aligned with Intermediate High ESL standards. Develop students’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills with an emphasis on real-world communication. Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to support language development. Create a supportive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages active participation and confidence. Adapt lessons to meet diverse learning needs, backgrounds, and goals of adult learners. Maintain accurate attendance, assessments, and student records. Collaborate with program staff and participate in professional development.
Requirements / Qualifications
CA Adult Ed ESL Credential, or CA K12 Credential (Single Subject or Multiple subject) with a CLAD or ELA 1 designation. Preferred: experience teaching Newcomer English, Adult ESL or English literacy grades K-2. Experience working with diverse backgrounds and learning types.
