CRLA Yorba Linda will utilize a Classical Education model. Position Overview The Classical Physical Education Teacher is responsible for cultivating physical fitness, character development, teamwork, and sportsmanship in alignment with the mission and values of the school. This individual will provide engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction for students in Transitional Kindergarten through 5th grade while promoting habits of discipline, perseverance, respect, and joyful movement. The ideal candidate understands the value of classical education and views physical education as an opportunity to develop the whole child; mind, body, and character. Instruction should encourage healthy competition, cooperation, self-control, and leadership while fostering a lifelong appreciation for physical activity and wellness. Essential Duties and Requirements Establish a school culture that inspires and empowers the next generation of California’s leaders to excel academically, to be proud Americans, proud Californians, and to impact the world with excellence derived from an education like that which produced the inspired servant leaders who founded our great nation. Develop and implement lesson plans and physical activities aligned with California State Standards and Classical Education standards Assess students regularly and analyze student results; refine and differentiate instruction based on assessment data and student needs Collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional practices throughout
Requirements / Qualifications
Cleared, Multiple Subject Teaching Credential (California) with valid EL authorization Livescan fingerprint CPR/First Aid TB test Required knowledge, skills & abilities: Knowledge of child cognitive development and various learning styles Knowledge of subject matter, including California State Standards and subject-specific frameworks Knowledge of assessments Ability and willingness to implement CRLA curriculum Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative student data Ability and willingness to reflect and improve instructional practices Ability to collaborate with colleagues, parents and community Computer and Internet search skills Minimum educational level: Bachelor's Degree Valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential required English Language Learner Authorization required Experience required: 1+ year working with students as a teacher, teacher intern, or teaching assistant preferred
