Job Summary: The Academy of Our Lady of Peace (OLP) seeks an on-site, Social Studies Teacher who wants to make a positive impact on the lives of young women by upholding and communicating the school mission, philosophy, and core values while modeling behavior that inspires academic excellence and an enthusiasm for learning in a culture that fosters support for one another. The Teacher will help students learn and grow to become young women of heart, faith, courage, and excellence in the spirit of our sponsoring religious order, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. Educators applying should have experience with teaching high school Social Studies courses. Desirable skill sets include being well-versed in various forms and uses of technology including the use of Google for Education tools, Learning Management Systems (LMS), Student Information Systems (SIS), and emerging learning technologies. Applicants must show a willingness to include and support diverse student learners; teach curriculum aligned with our OLP mission and the National Curriculum Standards for Social Studies (NCSS); instruct using pedagogy centered around girls’ unique learning styles and how they learn best; and work closely with fellow Social Studies Teachers in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and as a Departmental team. Qualifications: A degree and preferably three years of high school teaching experience. A strong and sincere commitment to professional development both in pedagogy and content area. High standards and high expectations for students. Commitment to being a positive and contributing member of the professional community. A passion for the subject matter and desire to work with all types of learners. A proficiency in the use of technology. A desire to work in a highly collaborative environment.

OLP requires a cover letter, resume and application. Upon hiring you will be required to submit proof of current (within 60 days) negative TB test or TB Risk Assessment Questionnaire, Background Clearance through LiveScan*, Valid CA Driver’s License, and provide all official transcripts. Salary range depending on education and experience: $54,000 - $99,100 OLP provides a comprehensive benefits package for eligible employees *OLP will consider qualified applicants with a criminal history pursuant to the California Fair Chance Act. You do not need to disclose your criminal history or participate in a background check until a conditional job offer is made to you.
