Job Summary

Bella Mente Montessori Academy is seeking a knowledgeable and student-centered Director of Special Education to lead and oversee all aspects of the school’s special education program. The Director is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, SELPA, and local special education regulations while supporting high-quality services for students with disabilities. This position provides leadership in the development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of special education programs and services, including IEP compliance, staff support, student case management, related services coordination, and parent collaboration. The Director of Special Education will carry and manage an assigned caseload of special education students, including oversight of IEP development, compliance timelines, service coordination, progress monitoring, and communication with families and service providers. The Director will supervise and support special education personnel, coordinate assessments and student services, facilitate IEP processes, and provide direct support and instruction during Extended School Year (ESY) and summer programming as assigned. The ideal candidate is collaborative, organized, solution-oriented, and committed to fostering inclusive educational environments where all students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Requirements / Qualifications

Appropriate valid California Teaching Credential CLAD or EL certification Mild to Moderate or Moderate to Severe credential with authorization as required by served disabilities. Autism Spectrum Disorder Added Authorization Five (5) years of successful teaching, counseling, psychology and/or administrative experience Administrative Services Credential or eligibility to obtain preferred. Completion of a Master’s Degree
