Job Summary
Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Chief Academic Officer (CAO) serves as ECR’s senior instructional leader and is responsible for the leadership, oversight, implementation, and evaluation of the school’s academic programs, instructional systems, curriculum, assessment practices, and educational initiatives. The CAO oversees academic operations across all instructional programs and student populations and supports organizational goals related to student achievement, compliance, equity, staffing, and continuous improvement.

Minimum Requirements:
Master’s degree or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard from an accredited college or university
At least four semester units in multicultural education or equivalent study
At least five years of successful full-time public school certificated service
At least three years as a teacher in a K–12 public school program
A valid California K–12 Teaching Credential requiring a bachelor’s degree and a program of professional preparation, including student teaching
A valid Administrative Services Credential authorizing K–12 service
A solid grasp of all aspects of operating a charter school is highly desirable
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience overseeing advanced academic programs, including AP, dual enrollment, or college credit-bearing courses
Demonstrated background in arts-integrated, CTE, or career pathway learning environments
Familiarity with charter school governance structures, LCFF and LCAP development, and compliance reporting
Experience managing higher education partnerships and UC/CSU articulation agreements
Proven track record using data analytics and school dashboard metrics to drive instructional decisions and close achievement gaps
Experience leading a multi-program academic portfolio serving a diverse, high-achieving student population
